Requirements for registration
The course will be taught in English. The instructor does not speak Japanese. It is recommended for students to read the set texts before the class and make a note of any points which they wish to be clarified.
授業の目的
Course purpose
Goals: To give students a basic grounding in English and American Literature and its
cultural and historical context from Old English literature up to the late seventeenth century, to acquire the metalanguage necessary to communicate on literary topics and to assist help students to improve their communication skills through discussion of the course material.

Content
The course will provide an overview of English Literature from the seventh century
to the late seventeenth century.
