Requirements for registration
The course will be taught in English. The instructor does not speak Japanese. It is recommended for students to read the set texts before the class and make a note of any points which they wish to be clarified.
授業の目的
Course purpose
Goals: To give an introduction to British Literature from the 18th century to
the present day with reference to its historical and cultural context. To engage in a close reading of selected texts and extracts from major authors. To facilitate communication skills through discussion of the course material.
授業の内容・方法
Content
The course gives an overview of British literature from the eighteenth to the
late twentieth-century, with a focus on poetry and the novel. Each week we will also do close readings of extracts from selected authors.
